HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
________________________________________________
January is a tough month, in the retail sector, and even tougher in the Christian book retail sector with people sporting their new tablets after Christmas, iphones and electronic devices making online downloads much easier. We live in a high speed, I want NOW, world, including myself here. I admit it, I want a tablet too! :)
Instead of looking at Ebooks as the "enemy". We have began exploring this option for our customers and community not only for resale, but also to borrow. How can we integrate Ebooks with the launch of the New El-shaddai's Christian library? Will it be possible for people to borrow Christian ebooks and resources online? It is possible, but will take much resources to implement.
"God if it is your will, we know you will make a way. Your knowledge is far beyond what men now know and forever will know. We lift up this area to you and ask for your guidence. May we not forget about the personal contact and relationships we are made to cultivate and embrace in our lives" Amen...

For starters, we have been attempting to contact Overdrive for over 2 months. Overdrive is the 3rd party company our local library uses to administer the logistics of lending out ebooks. I've called twice and filled out the online contact us form 3 times to no avail. As I spoke with the customer service representative there, she explained that there are many businesses interested in Overdrive and its expected that we may not receive a response.
Well, moving on then, we recently explored Google Ebooks which is integrated on our website today. However, its ALL google Ebooks and we are working on narrowing the selection so that only Christian Ebooks are available through our site.
If you do not have a fancy tablet, no worries, you can still access Ebooks with a FREE software by Adobe. You can download it here: http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/?source=acromenu
I hope you found this helpful and we will continue to keep you posted.
